The modern, knowledge-based society, within which the main resource and the key factor of competitive advantage and innovative capacity of a nation have become knowledge and the capability of a nation to use and employ it, needs a highly skilled, flexible, innovative and entrepreneural workforce, with a strong motivation for life-long learning.
Without it the companies in the Koroška region will not be able to keep up with the competition from Europe and other parts of the world.
One of the possible ways of improving the regional situation in the area of human resource development is to develop and organize new education and training programs which fit the needs of the regional economy. With this in mind, the municipalities of the Koroška region, together with the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry, founded the Koroška Centre for Higher Education.
